Of the 52 Iowa 4-H students selected to receive state project awards this year, four are from Washington County. The four local winners are Kaitlin Hora, member of Jackson Jets 4-H Club, received a state 4-H health project award; Madeline Hora, 4-H County Council member and State Council member, received a state 4-H leadership project award; Lindsey Palmer, member of Lime Creek Limelights, received a state 4-H rabbit project award; and 4-H ELITE Project Team member, Hannah Van Roekel, received a state 4-H sheep project award.

The awards are presented to students who show leadership, communication and service in a specific project area and are recognized as top in the state. A total of 163 youth across the state applied for the elite awards.
