With a $2 million Federal Aviation grant, work is underway at the Washington Municipal Airport. Mike Roe with the Airport Commission explains a runway will be reconstructed at the airport to meet federal regulations and to increase safety at the facility. Also, the current runway will be demolished and parts of it will be recycled to use in the new construction. In addition, a new electrical system will be installed. Work is slated to be finished in August but Roe says it may go into September. The airport will be operational during construction.
