The Drake Relays started yesterday, and both Alex Coker of Washington and Rickey Rivers of Columbus Junction improved their placement.

Rivers finished just out of the points, jumping 21’1.5” to finish ninth, while Coker finished 10th with a jump of 20’11.5”.

The main portion of local athletes will run today at the Drake Relays.

Tommy Peterson starts the Relays for the area schools early in the morning with the Shot put at 8:30, and then Lou Krieger-Coen of WMU will throw the discus at 9 A.M. Carl Sivels will kick things off on the track with the 100 meter dash at 12:28, before the afternoon break.

To end the night, the Washington boys, WACO boys, Washington girls and Mid-Prairie girls will all compete in the 4×100 meter relay, with the girls at 5:10, and the boys an hour later.
