The Keota boys track and field team doesn’t have enough kids to field every event, but they have heart, and some individual athletes that can compete every meet.

Returning to the track team this year for the Eagles is Kolton Greiner, who has the fastest time in the 100 meter dash at 11.77, and in the 400 meter dash at 54.57. Greiner also is the lone returning long jumper, with a long jump last year of 20’4”.

Also returning is Luke Lyle, who is second in the 400 with a time of 55.89, and is the top high jumper for the Eagles. The top relays that Keota will look to put together when they can is their 4×200 with a time of 1:37 last year and their 4×400 that finished at 3:57.

Keota head coach Larry Lyle said they would focus more on individuals this year, but could throw some relays in there as well.

“I think that will be our strength this year, is sprints. We will probably just work on individual events, and then maybe put a couple of relays together, but just with nine guys it is going to be kind of tough, but I think we have quality instead of quantity this year, so I think things will work out pretty well,” Lyle said.

Keota starts their season this Thursday at the Washington Relays.
