A traffic stop led to two arrests in New London this week. 29-year-old Chad Michael Taylor of New London was arrested for driving under suspension on Monday at approximately 8pm. According to Special Investigator with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Brandon Marquardt, the subject admitted to smoking methamphetamine and making it at his home when questioned about a chemical smell in the vehicle.

A search warrant was then executed at 2871 Quincy Avenue, south of New London, where officers discovered the methamphetamine labs. Chad Taylor was then charged with conspiracy to manufacture more than 5 grams of meth. 73-year-old Larry Eugene Taylor of New London was arrested on the same conspiracy charge. Both subjects await their initial appearance at the Henry County Jail. Marquardt says they had been investigating Taylor for a while due to pseudoephedrine purchases he was making.

Agencies involved in the investigation and arrests were Henry County Sheriff’s Office, New London Police Department and the Mt Pleasant Police Department.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
