A Washington County Sheriff’s Deputy was bitten by a dog in the City of Washington on Friday. The Deputy was serving papers to a residence on East Main Street when the pitbull/lab mix escaped the home. Washington Police Chief Greg Goodman says the Deputy sustained a deep bite that required stitches.

The dog was turned over by the owners, and has since been destroyed by the Police Department. The dog was current on its rabies shots, but the remains will still be tested.

Goodman says at this time he doesn’t anticipate his department filing criminal charges.
