WACO School District is looking at security systems for both of their schools. Superintendent Darrell Smith says this would include cameras, and either a card access or buzzer system.

He explains that with the tragic events at schools over the past few years, it’s become apparent that a lot of things are out of a district’s control. He says they’re now doing what is in their control to provide a safer environment.

The estimate for the security systems is $70,000. Smith notes a community member has volunteered to raise the money needed to cover the cost.
