Louisa County Conservation will be using the next few year’s to match large grants they’ve received for trail projects. Their Comprehensive Trails Plan was completed in 2012. Following that, they were awarded a National Scenic Byways grant worth over $1.3 million for a paved biking lane on the Mississippi River Trail. Fundraising for the local match has been underway since.

They’ve also received a $119,000 Transportation Alternative Program grant for the Hoover Nature Trail at Chinkapin Bluffs Recreation Area. According to Executive Director of Louisa County Conservation, Katie Hammond, funds for that grant won’t be available until 2017, so they’ll have time to raise the $125,000 match.
