Four cases of seasonal influenza A, including one H1N1, has been reported by the State Hygenic Laboratory and three cases of inluenza associated hospitlization was reported from sentinel hospitals. Influenza activity in Iowa remains sporadic at this time. The proportion of outpatient visits remains below the regional baseline at 0.26 percent. During this reporting period, the U.S. World Health Organization and National Respiratory and Enteric Virus Surveillance System laboratories found 5.4 percent of tested specimens to be positive for influenza. Only two states, Mississippi and Alabama, are reporting moderate activity.
