It will cost much less to restore the Bunker Mill Bridge than initially expected. The original plan suggested relocating the bridge to the river bank for the restoration. The estimate for that exceeded $450,000. But following an onsite inspection by a group of metal bridge experts, a more cost effective restoration plan was put together, bringing the cost down to $270,000.

To cover the cost, a grant application for $154,000 has been submitted to the Washington County Riverboat Foundation. The Friends of Bunker Mill Bridge would match $112,000. The next round of Riverboat grants will be announced in December.
