While it’s not a bumper crop, one Washington County farmer can’t complain about this year’s harvest. Dave Skubal says, given the growing season we had, yields are decent. He says this year’s yields wouldn’t be possible in a similar year two decades ago, due to improved seed genetics. For soybeans, he’s seeing 40 bushels for per acre, while his corn is averaging 150 to 160 bushels per acre. Skubal plans to wrap up his harvest this week.
