The fate of the fire damaged Bunker Mill Bridge depends on community support. According to Kalona City Administrator, Ryan Schlabaugh, the city, which was planning to use the county-owned bridge for a trail, won’t be covering the $15,000 needed to inspect the bridge. At the council meeting Monday, Schlabaugh was directed to look into interest within the community and avenues for funding the relocation of the bridge to somewhere like the Kalona Historical Village.
