The City of Wellman continues to make progress towards a project planned at their waste water treatment plant. At the city council meeting this week, a few government requirements were taken care of.

One exempting them from a State Historic Preservation Office Review, which was done recently before a previous project at the plant, and the other business item was a public notice that the work would be done in the floodplain. City Administrator, Nick Pacha says the engineering phase of the project should be done this fall, they’ll then hold a bid letting, with work starting in the spring.

The project will involve replacing an out of date piece of equipment, adding a bypass channel, and building a structure to house the bypass channel. $500,000 of the estimated $750,000 cost will be covered by a Community Development Block Grant.
