A celebration held for nearly three decades in Washington County begins tonight. According to Paul McCracken, President of the Riverside Area Community Club, Trek Fest is now in its 29th year. He says the two days of events concludes with the fireworks show tomorrow night at 10pm, which is expected to be their biggest yet.
Trek Fest began when City Councilman Steve Miller suggested the city rebrand itself as the future birthplace of Captain Kirk, a character from the television series Star Trek. The following year a space ship was built and the first Trek Fest was held.
