While still behind years past, soybean planting in southeast Iowa saw a lot of progress over the last few weeks. According to the USDA Crop & Weather Report 85 percent of this year’s soybeans have been planted, up from 55 percent a week ago, but still behind last year and the five year average. Meanwhile, corn planting is nearly complete.

And like the rest of the state, wet fields continue to be an issue, with a surplus of moisture in nearly half of southeast Iowa’s topsoil.
