The reconstruction of a portion of US 61 in Louisa County, included in a multiyear road improvement plan, will begin this summer. The Iowa Transportation Commission approved the Fiscal Year 2014 to 2018 Iowa Transportation Improvement Program yesterday. Work on the 6 mile stretch of US 61 in Louisa County, from south of Iowa 92 to Muscatine County will start this summer, with the majority of the around $28 million project wrapping up in 2017.

Once it’s complete, some of the improvements to the stretch of highway will include more lanes and improved right of ways.
