The Lone Tree girls completed the golf sweep of IMS Thursday night at High Point in Iowa City. The Lady Lions were winners by a team score of 221-252. Lone Tree was led by meet medalist Avery Edwards who fired a low round 49. After her round Edwards talked about the part of her game that’s working the best at this point in the season.

“My putting is on, I can see the line from my ball to the hole better than I am doing anything else right now,” Edwards said.

Others in the top four for Lone Tree included medalist runner up Katy Ruth who carded 52, Liz Griffin finished with 54 and Morgyn Edwards carded 66. Lone Tree Head Coach Kelby Bender talked after the meet about what he was looking for from his team.

“The girls have been improving quite a bit, I think with them the more they play the better they’re going to be, so if we can just get more consistent weather it will help them tremendously” Bender said. “They’ve been getting more consistent, hitting the ball a little bit straighter, so we’ve been working in practice on just getting back through the ball, they don’t have to hit it hard, but just have a consistent swing so they can hit it straight.”

IMS was led by Breanna Stout and Jess Bender who fired twin 57s. Others in the top four included Michaela Prihoda at 68 and Teresa Miller with 70. The Lone Tree girls will next be in action Monday at English Valley while the IMS girls will participate in the Mid-Prairie invite Tuesday.
