A one vehicle accident injured three people early this morning. At around 1am, a sedan driven by 22-year-old Alberto Zapata of Columbus Junction was eastbound on G36 when it lost control about a half mile west of the Washington/Louisa County Line. The vehicle entered the south ditch, ending up on its top.

Zapata and his passengers, 23-year-old Nazario Castillo and 23-year-old Ivan Solis, both of Columbus Junction, were injured in the accident. Solis was transported from the scene by Air Care to the University of Iowa Hospital, while Zapata and Castillo were taken via Washington County Ambulance. Charges are pending as the accident remains under investigation.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Washington County Sheriffs Office, Louisa County Sheriffs Office, Ainsworth QRS, Washington County Ambulance and University of Iowa Air Care.
