The Washington Demons traveled to the Dickinson Relays at UNI last night, and had a few top 25 finishes.

Junior Alex Coker had the highest finish on the team in the long jump, finishing seventh with a leap of 21’1”.

Demon head coach Steve Roth said Coker has been working on that jump since he was a freshmen.

“The young man has been trying to hit 21 [feet] for the last two years, and this was a personal goal for him, so he was very excited and I was happy for him, because he has put a lot of time in.” Roth said. “He’s been long jumping since he was in third or fourth grade, he’s gone to national meets long jumping, so it is a nice jump for him.”

Coker also finished 21st in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.43.

Other top 25 finishes for the Demons were Jacob Hennigan in the 60 meter hurdles finishing 22nd with a time of 9.23.

Washington is scheduled to host their home meet tomorrow, but due to the weather there is a chance of it being canceled. Listen in to KCII tomorrow morning for any news on the Washington Relays.
