The US Department of Agriculture has released its statistics on the 2012 soybean yield by county. They report that extreme heat and drought reduced yields across the state, with only eight counties producing a yield as high or higher than in 2011.The highest yield in the state was from Cedar County at 56 bushels per acre.  Washington County farms averaged 51 bushels per acre, Keokuk County farms yielded 48.5 bushels. Appanoose County in south-central Iowa had the lowest yield in the state, with farms averaging 24 bushels of soybeans.
