While flu season hits its peak on the East Coast and in the South, the worst may be yet to come in southeastern Iowa. Lynn Fisher with Washington County Public Health receives weekly state reports on flu activity, and says it’s picking up, but adds our peak is usually in early February. Across the state there have been 151 hospitalizations because of the flu, none of which were in our region.

She shares news reports from other parts of the country may have led to increased demand for flu shots. Washington County Public Health’s supply of shots ran dry yesterday.
