The City of Kalona will continue their partnership with the Iowa Flood Center as they work toward an English River watershed group. City Administrator Ryan Schlabaugh says they’re hoping to set up a group that would include all 19 communities within the English River watershed. The University of Iowa’s Flood Center has been working with Kalona throughout the FEMA flood mapping process and will help the city find representatives from those communities.

Schlabaugh says when they write federal grants to help with flood mitigation efforts, having proof that they have total support from everyone in the watershed is very beneficial.
