After a last minute effort to avert the so-called fiscal cliff, the U.S. House of Representatives approved the Senate’s compromise package. U.S. Congressman Dave Loebsack supported the bill. His district includes Washington County.

Leading up to last night’s vote, Loebsack released a statement saying that while he would have preferred a different bill that does more for farmers and small businesses, he voted ‘yes’ because he says the number one priority was to prevent a tax increase on middle class and working families.

The bill prevents an automatic tax increase for most Americans.  It also delays spending cuts for a couple months.
