An open burn ban that was issued more than a month ago has been lifted.  Emergency Management Coordinator Larry Smith says the conditions have improved to where the ban can be lifted in Keokuk County.

Previously, open burns were too dangerous and had the potential to threaten lives and properties.  During the ban the only way a burn could be conducted was through a permit.

Smith says the lift on the ban was effective at 4:00 yesterday afternoon.
