WACO and WMU matched up for one last Southeast Iowa Superconference game last night before the tournament.

Both WACO and WMU were having long weeks and looking for a win to cap it off, but after three tough losses on the long week, WACO had to face another as WMU went up 3-0 early in the game, and after a rain stoppage and then a lightening stoppage the game was called after six innings and WMU took home the win.

WACO head coach Michelle Wade said she was hoping for her team to play a little better, but the weather didn’t help.

“I was really kind of disappointed with last night, with the way that we played, we allowed them to score three runs and we could not score runs and then the game was called in the sixth,” Wade said. “I was disappointed because I felt that we were getting momentum back in our direction, but we were unable to follow that through and see what we could have done.”

Wade also added that WACO will lose some girls going into the regional tournament to mission trips, but that they have played short handed almost all year. WACO plays Keota on Monday.
