Port Louisa National Wildlife Refuge broke ground on a new building last Thursday. According to Refuge Manager Cathy Henry the rain did not stop the proceedings for the NWR Headquarters from happening. Dirt was brought into one of their facilities the day prior in order to hold a ‘ceremonial’ groundbreaking. Speeches were given by Henry and a representative from Louisa County conservation.

The National Wildlife Refuge headquarters will contain a reception area and interpretive displays, as well as an environmental education room, staff offices, and rest rooms.
