The dry and warm weather we’ve had the past couple of weeks have given farmers ample time to plant crops. With corn planting at 98 percent complete, soybeans have been the focus. Soybean planting is at 85 percent complete, putting producers well above the 5 year average.

Corn planting would have been done by now, but late April and early May showers forced some farmers to replant. According to field agronomist with the ISU Extension Jim Fawcett crusting, erosion and disease caused by the rain led to some farmers having to replant.
