A new program is coming to southeast Iowa to help get people more active.  Kirestan Peck from the American Cancer Society says they are having a program called “5K Junkie” where 5K events are being held in four locations in this part of the state to help raise funds for the American Cancer Society.

She says those taking part in all four events get a chance to earn a special t-shirt.  Peck notes by making a healthy choice of being active, the chance of getting cancer is reduced by two-thirds.

The first of the four events starts tomorrow night at 6:30 in Fort Madison with the others being held in Burlington and Washington next month and the last one happening Keokuk in July.  To find out more about the 5K Junkie program, contact Kirestan Peck with the American Cancer Society.
