Spring planting time is here and drivers need to be mindful of the farm machinery that could be on the roads.  Washington County Sheriff Jerry Dunbar says most farmers do try to avoid traffic and stay out of the roadway but will have to drive in the travel lanes at times to avoid items along the shoulder.  He says drivers need to use extra caution when attempting to make a pass while the equipment is on the roads.

Dunbar says the newer farm equipment has turn signals to help alert drivers of possible turning.  He adds to keep a safe distance when following any piece of machinery.  Dunbar says if you see any sort of danger either while driving farm equipment or any other vehicle, to report that to that his office.
