The National Weather Service has made a determination of the damage in Hedrick from last weekend’s storm.  Ray Wolf with the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities says based on assessment from Washington and Kekouk County Emergency Management Coordinator Larry Smith, reports from a storm spotter and radar information, the storm that caused damage in Hedrick was a tornado.

He says the tornado was classified as an EF1 which has wind speeds between 86 and 110 miles per hour.  At the height of the storm, the storm knocked out power to entire town causing fire personnel to sound alerts using their fire sirens.

Most of the damage was located on the southern and eastern parts of Hedrick but no injuries were reported from the storm.
