The Iowa State University Extension is getting ready to educate area farmers about farming methods that can help them throughout the year.  The Extension’s annual spring field day will present farmers with information and education about how to effectively use cover crops.  ISU Field Agronomist Jim Fawcett says cover crops are planted in the fall and spring to keep soil healthy and productive year round, and can be good for fields through the rest of the year.  One popular cover crop is rye.

The field day will be held Wednesday at the ISU Southeast Iowa Research farm near Crawfordsville beginning at noon.  To register, call the Washington County Extension office.
