An item is being sold tonight that has been part of the Sunset Park landscape for many years.  Don Pfeiffer with the Washington Park Board says the chain saw carving of two bears near the New Dawn Playground is being sold this evening.  He says the weather has taken its toll on the sculpture.

Pfeiffer says the base has become unstable and the Park Board wanted to relocate the solid portion to a new base.  He says after further investigation, the smaller bear of the carving had to be removed and destroyed because of dry rot.

Pfeiffer says the remaining portion will be sold at Giardino’s Auction at 5:30 tonight with the funds going to a special Park Board Fund to help needed improvements in Washington’s parks.
