The Washington County Board of Supervisors have approved funding for the Washington County Sheriff’s Department.  During their meeting yesterday, Sheriff Jerry Dunbar requested money to purchase five new video recorders for the jail.  These recorders are used to monitor all activities in the jail and can be used in a court case if needed.

Dunbar says the cameras in use now store up to three days of activities and the new ones would be able to store thirty.  The funding for the cameras will come from inmates’ room and board fees as well as part of the Sheriff’s budget.  The Supervisors approved up to $35,000 for the purchase of the new video recorders.
