Three Riverside residents are seeking to fill an opening on the Riverside City Council.  The city is holding a special election tomorrow to fill the vacancy created when council member Betty Kaalberg died May 4.

Candidates Christine Kirkwood, James Strabala, and Sam Torrey hope to secure the position.  Kirkwood resigned from her position with the city and was appointed by the city council June 20.

Riverside residents then petitioned for a special election to fill the seat.  Whoever wins tomorrow’s election will serve through December 31, but that person is also eligible to file for a four-year term in the November 8 municipal elections.
