Efforts are underway to improve the electrical system of the Keokuk County Courthouse.  County Auditor Christy Bates says the work is ahead of schedule.  She says the improvements were approved by the Keokuk County Board of Supervisors.

The contract for the electrical work was awarded to Baker Construction of Des Moines.  Bates says the County does not have an exact total cost of the project yet, and officials won’t know that number until the work is completed.

However, she says the project is still within its budget, even with some minor additions to the plans.  The improvements are expected to be completed by mid-September.
