The stage might have been bigger but the result was the same. In a Monday state quarterfinal game in Ft. Dodge Mid-Prairie fell behind early, rallied and scored another win in their last at bat knocking off unranked Nodaway Valley 4-3. In a game heard on KCII, the Wolverines struck first when Lindsay Hight walked and scored in the top of the first. Mid-Prairie would answer when Kaitlyn Kaalberg came around to score on a Rachel Miller RBI base hit. Mid-Prairie took their first lead of the night when Miller struck again in the 3rd with a solo blast to lead off the frame. Nodaway Valley continued the seesaw in the 4th when Jennifer Beitz scored on a passed ball, again it was the Golden Hawks turn in the 5th as Hannah Miller scored on a Mariah Swartzendruber double. With the Mid-Prairie defense looking to get three outs to secure the win Nodaway forced a bottom of the 7th with a lead off triple in the top of the inning and a game tying hit from Paige Jones. In their last at bat the tandem of Kaalberg and Miller did it again for Mid-Prairie, Kaalberg with a lead off double to right and Miller finishing it with a walk off base hit through the left side. Olivia Lugar recorded the win for Mid-Prairie going all seven innings, giving up three runs two of them earned, striking out five and walking four. McKinzie Boes took the loss for Nodaway Valley giving up four Golden Hawk runs on 15 hits. Mid-Prairie improves to 24-18 on the year with the win and will be in action Thursday at 5PM in the state semifinals at Ft.
