The Demon baseball team was in Mount Pleasant facing the Fort Madison Bloodhounds for the right to move on to sub-state. In a game heard on KCII, the two teams were scoreless through the first two innings despite each having opportunities to do so. The first runs came across in the bottom of the third with the Demons Jake Redlinger at the plate with bases loaded. Redlinger got a base hit to left to score two. Washington scored another run on a Colin Steele sac fly to center it was part of a four run third for Washington. The Demons would score three more for some insurance in the bottom of the sixth with two of those runs coming on an Anthony Ossman base hit. The Demons got the win 7-1. They got a complete game from Josh Moore who struck out three, walked two and even though Fort Madison had six hits they never really seemed to threaten.

Washington improves to 28-7 while Fort Madison ends their season at 14-21. Now the Demons move on and face Centerville in Ottumwa. Centerville was a 12-0 winner over Knoxville in six innings. The Demons haven’t been this far in the post season since 1998 when they went to state.
