The Demon softball team played to very fast moving games last night hosting Fort Madison, in fact they didn’t even have to turn on the lights. In the first game Washington scored a run in the first and 1-0 was the score the bulk of the game. The Demons added two more in the fifth and one in the sixth to win 4-0. Maddie Bohr got the win.

In the second game which was heard on KCII, the Bloodhounds scored two runs in the top of the first. The Demons Lauren Vittetoe led off the fourth with a hit and she’d come around and score to get Washington on the board. Then in the fifth with two outs Maddie Bohr and Sammy Ellingson got on with hits and a Lauren Vittetoe double scored them to put Washington up 3-2. The Bloodhounds tied it at 3-3 in the top of the sixth but the Demons scored two in the bottom of the inning to go up 5-3 as Joni Irwin got a hit and scored a run and Blair Farris drew a walk and scored. Fort Madison loaded the bases in the seventh and managed a run but with two outs Kortney Estrada hit a fly ball that was caught in left field foul territory by Stephanie Fishback on the run to give Washington the 5-4 win. The two wins means the Demons get the season sweep on Fort Madison and improve to 6-2 in the conference.

After the game Washington Head Coach Angie Shrader praised the two girls in the circle Maddie Bohr and Ashley Raush. She says both are dealing with some soreness. The Demons host Mount Pleasant tonight for a conference doubleheader, you’ll be able to hear the second game right here on the one to count on KCII. We’ll be on the air at around 7:30.
