The process of canonizing Pope John Paul II is almost complete and local Catholics are sharing thoughts.  Father Troy Richmond from St. James Catholic Church in Washington says he is looking forward to a special service tonight.  He says the service marks Divine Sunday and commemorates the beatification of the late Pontiff.

Father Richmond continues by saying that the sacrament of confession will be available, special prayers will be prayed and words from Pope John Paul II will be shared during the service.  He says the canonization process first started shortly after Pope John Paul II’s death in 2005 by Pope Benedict and the Bishops.

Father Richmond adds there is one last miracle that needs to happen yet before Pope John Paul II is fully canonized as a saint.  The new title for the late Pope will be Blessed John Paul II.  The special service begins at 7:00 tonight at St. James Catholic Church in Washington.
