Whether or not the new Washington Demon softball field will be done in time for the upcoming season will depend largely on the weather. The new high school is being built where the old softball field was, so work on a new field started at the end of last season. The new field is close to the previous location. Demon Head Coach Angie Shrader says right now the project is nearly finished.

According to Shrader the field, fence, and lights are up, right now they say they need dugouts, bleachers, press box, and concession stand. She says they have worked the schedule to buy a little extra time, moving a couple of early season conference doubleheaders to road games and then they’ll host later in the season.

Shrader says the concession stand seems like an extra but it is huge asset to the program in generating money to provide equipment. She says in the worse case scenario they could play at the Lincoln field, many of the materials including the dirt from their old field went to the Lincoln but that fields doesn’t have an outfield fence or lights so game times would have to be moved up.
