The Iowa House of Representatives recently passed a bill allowing school districts more leeway toward the requirement of a dress code. Washington School Superintendent Dr. Mike Jorgensen says while they do have a dress code of not allowing shirts that depict drugs or alcohol related items, or other inappropriate material, he says having a specific type of dress code is “not the place of the public school district.”
Dr. Jorgensen says while he can’t see the state mandating a certain type of dress, he sees this bill passage as how far a school district will be able to go with the rules and regulations.
