Well it’s 2011, an odd year, and every odd year since 2005 IMS has gone to the state tournament. IMS was playing Prince of Peace at Marion High School on Saturday in sub-state action. In a game heard on KCII, Prince of Peace led most of the way but never by double digits. It was 27-22 at halftime and IMS would take their first lead of the game with 3:26 left in the third quarter with a free throw trip from Ethan Gingerich. The teams were tied at 41 going into the fourth. Down the stretch with one minute left and the game tied Iowa Mennonite School got a big hook shot left of the basket from Johnny Lackender. The bucket gave IMS the lead for good. Ethan Gingerich went to the line and converted some big free throws going 7-7 from the stripe all in the second half. IMS won 59-56.
For IMS:
Ethan Gingerich 17 points
Brian Hagedorn 15 points
Chance Miller 13 points
Johnny Lackender 10 points

IMS, a team that hit a lot of threes during the season, only had one Saturday, that was in the first half from Ethan Gingerich and they only shot two on the night. Iowa Mennonite School improves to 24-1 and heads to the tournament as the number two seed. They will face Guthrie Center a week from today at 2:00 pm. Guthrie Center is 19-7 on the season.
