A Washington man found guilty in January of killing his wife has been sentenced to 50 years in prison.71 year old James Blum of Washington was found guilty on the charge of second-degree murder January 7th in the Washington County Courthouse. The verdict was returned after only a week of trial.

Blum had been accused of smothering his 67 year old wife in their home in January of 2010.  Sentencing was held yesterday afternoon, and Blum was sentenced to 50 years in prison.  He is eligible for parole after serving 70% of his sentence, which would put him at 106 years old.

Blum will be serving his sentence in the Oakdale Correctional Center in Johnson County.
