The Washington City Council this week heard from Scott Clark and Seth Cornwell, both of Wellman, who spoke about the city’s proposed resolution to create a weapons free zone.  They both stated the importance of the second amendment and how the state is handling weapons ordinances.  Both Clark and Cornwell said they would like to see the City Council not pass the resolution to prohibit handguns.  During this week’s meeting, the council was to discuss the resolution that was tabled from their last meeting.  In order for the resolution to be discussed, a member would have to present a motion to “untable” the resolution to proceed with the passage or denial of the resolution.  No one presented a motion to open the resolution for discussion and the motion will remain tabled until the next city council meeting on Wednesday, February 16th.
