The National Wildlife Turkey Foundation is holding a fund raiser on Saturday, February 5th. Committee member Don Pfeiffer says this fundraiser is held to try and maintain the woodland habitats for the wild turkey. He says the habitat of the wild turkey is mainly trees, but they will live around grasslands and weeded areas for food for their young. Pfeiffer says turkeys were introduced back to Iowa in the 1970s and 1980s by the Department of Natural Resources and are in every county in Iowa. The cost for a membership to the Turkey Foundation and dinner is $45. The dinner and auction will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Washington.
