Washington County has been added to the list of counties for a request of disaster declaration for crop loss. Washington and Keokuk County Emergency Management Coordinator Larry Smith says eight counties were requested to be added last week by Governor Culver. Smith says this disaster request comes after a documented 30 percent loss of one crop on post harvest evaluations. Smith says it could take up to a couple of months to hear if the request was granted. Other counties in southeast Iowa added to the list were Iowa, Johnson and Louisa.
