In the 2009-2010 basketball the season, the Washington Demons had not one, but two players reach the 1,000 career point milestone, one from each program. On the girls’ side Cassey Sobaski who started at point guard all four years hit her 1,000th point early in the season hosting Fairfield in the fifth game of the season in mid December. Sobaski got the six she needed within the first couple of minutes. She would have 20 points that night in a 76-44 win. Sobaski became only the third Demon to hit the 1,000 point mark in the girls program. Mary Berdo and Stephanie Rich were the other two. On the boys side, Isaac Gardner hit the 1,000 point mark in the Demons’ first post season game in a win over Keokuk 65-57. He finished the season with 476 points and hit 79 three pointers. Gardner reaching the 1,000 point mark was impressive considering he didn’t play varsity as a freshman and he didn’t play in his junior season until after the Christmas break.
