The Demons girls and Keokuk came down to the last possession last night. Washington went to Keokuk to face a team many feel are the favorites to win the conference title this year, the Chiefs. Keokuk jumped out to a 13-2 lead but the Demons rallied back and were able to tie it up at 13-13 going into the second quarter and it’d be close the rest of the way. It was a two point game at the half and going into the fourth quarter. Down the strecth with the game tied the Demons Johannah Vittetoe got a big rebound on a missed second free throw and was fouled in the process. She walked down to the other side of the court for two free throws with the Demons in the double bonus. She missed the first but the Chiefs got the rebound and were headed to the other side of the floor. Keokuk’s Ashley Longshore was able to drive and drawing a shooting foul before the Demons were able to point out Vittetoe didn’t get a second free throw. After a discussion, the let Vitteote shoot her second which she made and then gave Longshore her two free throws on the other end which she made. So down 49-48 and four seconds left the Demons drew up a play but didn’t get a good look for a last second shot and the Chiefs get the win. For the Demons, Regan Enfield had 20 points, Sydney Greiner had 12 points Lauren Kimball had 6. It’s the first conference loss for the Demons and they fall to 4-2 and 1-1 in the conference. Keokuk is now 3-0 in the conference.
