The City of Washington has made its case to the E911 Communications Board to save money by using space already available for the county’s proposed move of 911 services. Washington City Administrator David Plyman told the board last week that the city is “very concerned with the cost” of building a new structure near the Sheriff’s office, one of two proposed plans.  The other option is to move to the second floor of Washington’s old library at 120 East Main Street.  Plyman said “no serious concerns” exist with the old library building, and 911 would only have to pay to remodel the space to fit its needs, a much less expensive option that building an entirely new structure.  Washington County Sheriff Jerry Dunbar and others stressed the board should be searching for a permanent location, not just somewhere to move for the time being.
