The Washington City Council has unanimously approved a plan to purchase land from Bernard and Judith Bartholow, located north and west of its current wastewater treatment facility, for $1.5 million. City Administrator David Plyman said at Wednesday’s  meeting the ground near Highway 1 will be used to build Washington’s new wastewater treatment plant, as well as street and Elm Grove Cemetery expansion.  The vote gives Mayor Sandra Johnson approval to sign the deal, with final approval in the hands of owners Bernard and Judith Bartholow.  Area farmer John Berdo currently rents the land and has also agreed to the sale.
